What do you take/eat to aid in muscle recovery?

I'm working upper body and Monday and Thursday and Lower Body on Tuesday and Friday. On Wednesday I do something light, walk or something like that.

I find that on Thursdays my upper body is still sore from Monday and the same thing with lower body on Friday.

Any ideas anyone?
