Man, I have been doing some intense lifting these last couple weeks. I have been trying to find a good combo of running and lifting, but do to work and family, workouts get missed from time to time. A little over a week ago, I dropped a rather heavy board on my foot, smashing my right big toe. So, running has been a no go for the last week. However, for what ever reason, timing has been good and my lifting has been consistant and intensity has been great. I've gotten in like 17 workouts in this month. But, my body is telling me its time for a break. I am gonna hit my legs hard tonite, then take tomorrow off. Get in a good chest workout on Thursday with my partner, and then Friday will be a circuit training day with a group I've been going with for the last couple months. Then I am taking the full weekend off and starting up again on Monday. This has been a great month.

no, not like I was then. I have taken up ju jitzu and kickboxing, so that has created a whole new type of hurt. lol I have eased up some on the lifting heavy, but am wanting to go back that route. I have found that my endurance, both muscle and cardio, isnt where I want it. So, I have changed up a little. Thanks for asking, though.

Ok.. So you will be hurtin soon again then if I understand you correctly? Me i'm just hurting because of bad conscience for not working out at all right now. Hope I can change this so I can hurt for real.

I hear that. I could update this and say that I am just getting over a non-workout injury. I got stupid and punched a door, thought I broke my hand. Its been two weeks now, and it is still pretty sore. I have had to take a break from kickboxing/ju jitzu for a short time. Hoping to be back at it next week. Note to self-no punching immovable objects. lol

Haha stay away from the doors mate! How is kick boxing compared to normal boxing. I trained boxing for a couple of years and im starting to feel like taking it up again. I hear alot of talk about kick boxing and that is supposed to be great fun. Do you need to be all ninja like to enjoy it or does it work for someone that is stiff as a tree?

dont have to be ninja like at all. I have never formally trained in any style and I decided to take up mixed martial arts for work and personal self defense as well as just for the workouts. The school I am going to trains amature as well as professional fighters, and then just those of us who want to learn. Two of the three owners/coaches are/were police officers, so they know what I am wanting out of it. One is a ju jitzu guy, the second a judo/wrestling guy, and the third coach is a kickboxer as well as ground guy. With no past experience, I have learned just how unflexable I am, but its not an issue at all. It is alot of fun. If you have any interest at all in that sort of stuff, I highly recommend it.

That sounds great, I might have to try it! It really feels that martial arts is becoming more "normal" and not so ninja like anymore . Both kick boxing and some of the new stuff that mixes wrestling and other martial arts seems pretty fun. The boxing club I used to go to had a really great feeling. No attitude amongst the people there and we were all friends. I have heard other stories about clubs with lots of bad attitude and im to old for that stuff :). But from what you write it sounds great. thanks mate!

The school I go to is known as team no-ego. Basically, all egos are checked at the door and everyone is great. the guys who have been around awhile help out those who are just starting off, which is a huge bonus. Good luck if you give it a try

Kick boxing is more of a combination then a true martial art (basically mixed martial arts) and combine that with jūjutsu which is mostly grabbling you can balance it out and usually walk away with a good solid workout. Now for ninja like martial arts you would choose one of 19 disciplines in Ninjutsu, which I prefer Taijutsu myself. Taijutsu is unarmed combat is which your body is the only weapon. Course it fits in with my belief as well that then human body has no limitations other then the limits you place of it by your mind. Thats not the same as saying that because I believe I can lift 1000lbs I can do it without training my body, its means If I continue to push myself there is no goal I cant obtain and the only barrier for reaching said goal is my mind. The human body possess great strength and stamina but we tend to put limitations on what we can accomplish early on in life, be it fear of failure or some other reason.
